How to get the iOS 14 privacy indicator dots on Android

privacy indicator

Apple introduced a lot of privacy focussed features to the latest iOS 14, and one of the main and most useful ones is the privacy indicator.

The privacy indicator feature in iOS14 and iPadOS 14 displays a small dot on the top right corner of your screen whenever an app on your device accesses your microphone or your camera.

A small orange dot appears whenever an app on your device is trying to access the microphone of your phone. A green dot appears when an app is trying to access your device’s camera.

This feature, while sounds simple enough, actually contributes towards improving your privacy by a lot.

Many apps installed on your phone might not require access to your device’s microphone or camera but might still try to access them for some purpose, most of the time without your knowledge, thus impacting your privacy.

After this feature has been rolled out, many users have reported that they have noticed several apps trying to access their microphones or camera.

Apps like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube were commonly found to be accused of this claim.

The privacy indicator feature not only helps the users know what kind of data apps are collecting but also to be more knowledgeable of their privacy and limit any random collection of or access to their data.
