Whatsapp has released a new update that allows you to set a custom wallpaper for individual chat, both for private and group chats, in the latest version, 126.96.36.199 for both Android and iOS.
The feature was available for beta users for a while now, and it has now been added to the stable version as well, along with another feature that allows you to search for stickers from chats.
Whatsapp previously only had an option to set the same wallpaper for all your chats, but you can set separate custom wallpapers for each chat with this new update.
You also can edit the brightness level and choose from a bunch of dark and bright mode wallpapers and even use your images as wallpapers.
There are 32 new bright wallpapers and 29 new dark wallpapers, along with a bunch of solid color wallpapers and an archive with all the old wallpapers previously available.
Before you try out this new feature to set a custom wallpaper for individual chats in Whatsapp, make sure that you are on the latest version of Whatsapp by updating it from the Play Store on App Store on your device.

After you have updated your Whatsapp to the latest version, here is how you can set a custom wallpaper for an individual chat in WhatsApp.
How to set a custom wallpaper for an individual chat in WhatsApp
Open the individual private chat or group chat on your Whatsapp to which you want to set a custom wallpaper.
Click on the name of the chat to go to the individual chat settings.
From here, select the new ‘Wallpaper & Sound’ option and then select ‘Choose a new wallpaper’ on the next page.
You can now choose a wallpaper from the default categories, including Bright, Dark, and Solid color wallpapers, or select a wallpaper from your gallery if you want to use a custom image as your wallpaper.
Once you select a wallpaper, you can then preview it on the next screen to see how it will look on the chat page. You can also swipe right or left to check the preview of the other available wallpaper options as well.
After you have decided on the wallpaper, you can choose to enable or disable the Wallpaper motion option and then set the wallpaper.
On the next page, you can adjust the wallpaper’s brightness level to fit with the dark or bright theme on your device.
You can also still set a wallpaper for all your individual and group chats by going to Settings->Chats->Chat Wallpaper and then selecting a wallpaper from here.
There is also a new option to search for stickers from chats to quickly find and use the stickers you want to use.
